DEEP Program
Launched in 2006 under the UNDP administration, the "DEEP" Economic Empowerment Program for the Palestinian People is funded by the Islamic Development Bank and the Al-Aqsa Fund. Its primary goal is to help vulnerable Palestinian families transition from dependency on charity and aid to achieving economic and social self-sufficiency and independence. The program focuses on building human capital by providing both financial and non-financial services that support the development of income-generating economic ventures. It also works to strengthen institutions addressing poverty, aiming to enhance their capacity to implement effective programs. The program's objectives are broad, with a focus on improving the livelihoods of poor families by increasing their income and reducing their vulnerability to poverty. This includes services in health, education, and housing, all of which contribute to better food security and overall living conditions. Additionally, the program helps families manage their resources more effectively, guiding their spending toward sustainable goals that promote long-term improvements in their quality of life.
